I do know what it means, Primoa. I just find it jarringly archaic.

Just substitute with,"Fo real dizzog". "Word, Bra" or "I feel ya G""
'cause, "Verily, G" or "Verily, Dizzog",loses somthing in the translation. "Verily Bra" or Bro, has some promising merit,however.

Nope -- it was added to the 1611 King James translation. In all likelyhood, Jesus said "Amen, I say to you ..."
But now that I think about it, I believe I heard a guy at a Renaissance Fair say this as he handed me a smoked turkey leg ... (Mmmmm ... smoked turkey legs ... <

I have some friends who say that. they're also for the preservation of the subjunctive, and wish that it be acceptable to use inversion in everyday conversation.
