Use a bag of frozen that you have thawed OR even better, a fresh bunch that you blanch for a few minutes.

Pour a little olive oil in a pan, just enough to smear around and get the pan lubed, saute diced shallot and a couple of cloves of garlic. Add a few dashes of sesame oil and some red pepper flakes (this is spicy stuff so go sparingly if you don't like it too hot). Add the broccoli. In a cup, mix 1/4 of soy sauce with a tsp of cornstarch, get it good and mixed, add to the pan and toss to cover the broccoli. Serve.

I prepared basic steamed broccoli and cheese sauce (melted Velveeta brand cheese product) for my cub scout potluck once - it was gone before my boys were even allowed in line!

2 bunches of fresh broccoli cut into long "trees."
Peel the tough skin off the lower end of the trees.
Steam in a large pot with maybe an inch of water in it - use a bunch of stainless steel knives & forks as a quick steamer basket if you don't have one.

Pull out and reserve.

Melt 1/2 lb of Velveeta brand cheese product in the microwave and put in a heat-proof bowl.

Arrange the reserved broccoli trees on a platter - place the cheese sauce in the center. Serve.

Again, this was scarfed up pronto - totally gone before my boys (11 at the time) were even called into the line!

I guess it's because people could recognize the trees as broccoli - as opposed to some "made" dish that could contain a "yucky-bomb" like mushrooms or water chestnuts etc. Either way, my boys didn't get a bite!

I would eat what "one_goofy_devil" has done with it. That's my kind of taste.

PS - you should try puree of broccoli after it's done with the garlic - serve "mashed".
PSS - try this over pasta: fry up (but don't burn) a small onion, several pieces of garlic, a few anchovies... all in a combo of butter and oil oil.... maybe even a bit of red pepper.... Once the mix is to your liking add fresh (raw) broccoli folweretts to the pan, let amalgamate and let the broccoli get "al dente". When ready spoon over served linguine... and go to heaven!

This is easy healthy and yummy:

use either a bag of frozen or a large bunch of fresh broken up.

Put Broccolli spears in a glass bowl with
1 Tbs water

Microwave covered for 6 minutes.

(Be careful when you uncover them - the steam is really hot!)

Stir and recover.
Micro for six more minutes

At this point you have steamed broccolli.

Put on top and stir in:
your fav low fat or fat free dressing -- My kids love zesty italian.

Its also good if your spinkle a little parmasan on top.
