I cannot decide where I want my baby to go after he is born. I will have to go back to work full time as s/o and I can't really afford not to with a new car payment, school etc.

Getting a babysitter would actually be more expensive than daycare. My choices are between a facility and in home.

I use to work at a daycare which is 20 mins away from where I live/ work now. I really trust them with infants and the rest of the kids and I personally know most of the staff.

Would that be totally crazy to drive out of my commute just to make sure I can have the satisfaction of knowing my baby is in good hands. I also know that they are relatively cheaper than most facility daycares..

NO way, it would never be totally or even a lil bit crazy, to drive your child, outta the way, just to make sure he/she is safe, let me tell you!! Our children, are our precious pride and joy, at least EVERY one of mine are, they are my intire life, my husbands and mine! Just think, you need to read your question over, and I think you will find the answer, right there!
you are maybe a lil bit low on funds, ok, got it, but hey, your child, is the best thing in the world that has ever happend to you, or should be?! Not knowing all your situation, but as far as im concerned, you should always make your children first in your life, they will thank you later , believe me!
have a good one, hope this helped,,,,

The daycare you are familiar with and trust is 20 minutes away. Then you have to drive to work -- is the daycare on your way to work or are you going to have to drive extra miles to get to your job? After work you are going to have to drive back to pick up the baby. The miles and the driving time add up. With gas at close to $3 per gallon, will your job pay enough that you can afford to drive 40 minutes (or more) round-trip every day?

Of course you can only leave your baby in the care of people you trust. But I think you should keep looking for good childcare closer to your home or work.

For your own peace of mind, its not the least bit crazy. Take your baby to the safest place you know. Very few people have the luxury of a daycare right on their route to work. Your baby's safety is the most important thing and with daycare, you can't be too careful...

Your baby is the most important thing. It's worth an extra 20 minutes to know he is safe. You need to leave him somewhere you trust the people. Plus if it's cheaper, you'll make up some of the money you'll lose commuting.

I would stick to the daycare. You know you can trust them because you know the staff. It would not be crazy, you have to have total trust in someone caring for your baby or child.

nothing is crazy if it means handing your baby over to someone you know is safe and you can trust vs. someone more convienient... visit the other centers and if you feel at all unsure make the commute!

Yes yes it would be worth it. Knowing the baby is being properly cared for will be worth it!
