What do you want to spend? Do you want a relaxed place? Or something that feels special?

Rasika is a nice choice, if you and you date like Indian. It's nicer than many Indian places and has a fun feel to it. But, it's also pricier than the strip mall curry places.

If you want something lower cost, but still fun... consider going up to Adam's Morgan. There are any number of very fun places there that could make for a fun date. However, if you're looking to impress (or you/your date isn't adventurous), this may not go well.

Georgetown, in my opinion, is either overrated or grungy. Doesn't have the flavor of, say, Adam's Morgan. I'd avoid anything there unless you're dying to be near the waterfront. I've done this with dates and the waterfront is great, but you usually end up doing a lesser meal.

My personal best suggestion is Jaleo (downtown, Crystal City, Bethesda). Tapas and dates seem to go well together.

Mie N Yu: http://www.mienyu.com/

I agree with the person who said Equinox. It's one of the best, but fairly upscale too. Todd and Ellen are awesome though and it's a dining experience everyone should have at least once in a lifetime :)

I think Mie N Yu (above and beyond the name being adorable for a date - lol) is more of an enjoyable datelike atmosphere.

Salut!

If its a date with a Presidential staff member, consider going to the White House. They've probably seen it before, so as they show you around and point out stuff you can act all impressed and be like "you're so really very smart."

Value added benefit: they can probably get you in for free.
