Unfortunately this was a concern on this vehicle, even new they had a tendency to wander all over the road and jerk around when hitting bumps and ruts in the road. Inspect your tie rods and ball joints to make sure they are tight, inspect the shaft that connects the steering sector to the steering column for free play. If all these are good remove and inspect the steering damper shock if it has one to make sure it is ok, if it doesn't have a steering shock install one. Ford has all the parts available to install one or you can get a kit from Rancho or other suspension parts company. And last off adjust the free play in the steering sector, you will need to set it tighter the factory specs to get the wander out, then have the alignment checked to make sure it is in spec and your truck should drive normally.

As biker trash said, check out the suspension and make sure no issues, make sure the steering box is adjusted good (recommend a shop doing this as too tight can cause issues) as I find most of these super duties loosen up in the steering at about 120k miles...

But yeah I had many issues with the steering jerked out of your hand when hitting bumps and took a Ford steering stabilizer kit (basically a shock for your steering) to fix along with the box adjustment on some.

Its probably your ball joints. If its not that then there is a steering stabilizer on the front of the axle that looks like a little shock. If thats gone bad, it will cause loose steering as well.

Lift the front axle with a floor jack and place a jack stand under the axle.

Check the tie rod ends for any play.
Check the inner and outer front wheel bearing for play - grab the tire and tug the tire in and out and check for wheel bearing play.

check tie rod ends first...how many miles? does it have ball joints? some steering boxes can be adjusted...you need shop manual or let dealer/front end shop have a look
