Well not in all cases. Maybe it's a case of quick and easy.

The reason so many processed foods are cheaper is because they add cheap fillers to them. I believe the chemicals also alter our body chemistry so that we dont feel satisfied, along with a list of other things. To me, eating healthy is like cleaning the house, its hard to start but once your in the middle of it you start to feel better and then you're done and are able to reap the rewards. Its then easier to maintain.

also, most people notice when they start drinking more water, they start to crave it more. The same is true with choosing better foods, once you start you do start to crave them more.

The secret is learning how to cook them so they taste good, anything can taste good if its made right. and above all, if you like bananas more than carrot sticks, eat the banana, dont grab a candy bar instead because you dont like carrots.

first and foremost...who said junk food is cheaper than healthier food. Only those who want to suuport thier case of eating junk and not trying out healthier food options would say that.

The fact is that in terms of longer run, healthier food is more cost efficient. In fact short term it is too. Point in case.....one....junk food in the longer run will cause you more health problems ansd health care is only gonna rise in the future...so your cost id gonna go up compared to if you were hale and healthy by making healthier food choices.

Secondly, most healthy food cost more because they can make several servings. Junk food is a eat all or nothing concept. Take brown rice and lean meat. Sure they cost more in total but one purchase can easily be a few serving....so cost per meal is lesser.

SO pls do not use the excuse that cost is the thing that is stopping people from make healthier choices in thier diet.

It is a lot easier to get junk foods than health foods it seems. There are fast food restaurants everywhere. Anyone who wants a burger, fries and coke can get them quickly and cheaply. Some of the fast food places are now selling salads but they tend to be more expensive than the standard meals. Getting more fresh fruits and vegetables into your diet is currently more difficult and expensive.

Maybe there should be a junk food tax. They could use that money to go towards paying for Medicaid or universal health care. They did something similar with the cigarette tax. I think the basic idea is good. It's your choice but if you choose the unhealthy one you're going to pay more for it up front.

I know the foods you're talking about and can't imagine how others are not aware. Also, to the one who said oranges taste better than pizza, good job with trying to tell the rest of us what we enjoy. I never knew my own interests before.

Anyway, I do not think it is the place of our government (which is under the Constitution) to dictate to us or to businesses what we should be eating and how to price them all. It makes sense that healthy foods are more expensive, since fewer people buy them... but to the extent I see sometimes, that is not the case. A similar situation is found in environment-friendly cars, yes?

I do not think that lowering the prices would help the general population much at all. People will still eat what tastes good, what they are familiar with, etc. I encourage the teaching of moderation, but, as I just said, people do what they like.

I suggest that we let each individual come to his own conclusions about what to do... for himself. If the nation crumbles because it actually practices its concept of for, of, and by the people, so be it.

No.

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry.

Would people eat the healthy food?Thats the big question.
This is probably a poor comparison, but if the average person goes to Mac Donalds, will they pick the salad or the burger and fries?
We are responsible for what we put in our mouths and our childrens mouths(people who blame MacDonalds for making their kids fat should be kicked in the pants)
The same goes for physical fitness, dont ridicule the kid for being overweight when you sit on your fanny in front of the TV all the time.
(Sorry but I went through this growing up.)
How much money do people pay out for soda and junk food, but they claim they cant afford to buy healthy food?

It would probably help. Fast and easy healthy foods would be a plus too. Our lifestyle is so hectic that junk food is about all we eat.

Education is better in a democratic society.YES! That's a better idea than outlawing them. Then you will just have illegal foods like illegal drugs.

That, and make them better tasting. If broccoli tasted like chocolate, more people would eat it.
