We found a cute ceramic figurine that suits our taste as a wedding souvenir. Unfortunately, it is made of white porcelain with blue color as the accent. I would like to know if I can paint the whole item in metallic gold to match our motiff. Will that be possible? If so what would be the best paint to use and what special preparations should be made? Your tips will be highly appreciated.

Right now spray paint is your best option... It will last for the wedding, but it wont last forever. Use a metalic spray paint, then put an acrilyic clear spray coat over that.

Ceramic Figurines To Paint

I use a product called etch all. It takes the glaze off . I do this on plates all the time it is a great product . It cost about 30$ but it can be used over and over. I have had on bottle 4 years and it turned dark brown (the product is white) and still works. When I paint on plates with a glaze I use the etch cream, wait 15 min rinse in water. dry it and then spay it with a matte spray about two times. I do this to have some error room for mistakes. If you don't like what you painted it is easier to remove if it has been matte sprayed. You can paint with any type of paint . Then spray again, use high gloss or matte, what ever finish you need.

Hope this helps

Just go to any craft store and buy some gilding. You shouldn't have to make any preparations to the object other than cleaning it. The gilt will go on over the glaze just fine. If it doesn't stick to the glaze you could try coating the figurine with ordinary soap and letting it dry thoroughly before you gild it.

Yup.

There is special paint for that. You can even get paint to paint the tiles in your bathroom or kitchen. It probably is available in your color.

Just clean and apply the paint. One coat and you are done.
