I admire the Jehovah's Witnesses very much. I have found them to be kind, gentle, environmentally progressive, and anti-war. I just got one problem. "The Jehovah's Witnesses" is a 7 syllable phrase. It is too long. I want to start a new phrase, "The JW's". (the jay-double-yous)This phrase is only 4 syllables long and much easier to say.

Who will join me and utilize this new phrase "The JW's"?
Also is there anyone who is offended by this phrase?

Well, I am not personally offended but you should know that this particular phrase has already been around now for years.

You could just drop the "the." You know, folks don't say "the Catholics" and "the Baptists." They just say Catholics. Baptists. Jehovah's Witnesses.

The primary internal website for the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses is at "JW.org".

Even publicly, the "Authorized Site of the Office of Public Information of Jehovah's Witnesses" uses:

http://JW-Media.org

Thus, even officially, Jehovah's Witnesses find the acronym "JW" (and JWs/JW's) to be acceptable and useful.

In conversation and writings, persons familiar with the religion tend to refer to adherents simply as "Witnesses" or "the Witnesses".

(Isaiah 43:10) “You are my witnesses,” is the utterance of Jehovah

(Isaiah 43:12) “...So you are my witnesses,” is the utterance of Jehovah, “and I am God.

many people call us JW. I am a Jehovah Witness and I am proud to be called a Jehovah Witness. stay clear of us, I guess you would stay clear of Jesus Christ also, he did the samething as we do. Jesus Christ commanded us at Matthew 28 verse 19 and 20.

Your Silly. Jehovah to them is the correct translation of YHWH the Hebrew version of I AM WHOEVER I AM the name of God given in the burning bush to Moses. Trying to change the name is not only a great insult to the witnesses but to God Almighty.

The full name is "Jehovah's Christian Witnesses" or do you prefer "Christian Witnesses of Jehovah"?
