It’s just an expression, right? So what you guys do is, just go through the motions of trusting in God, but mostly use your own judgment? Can you give me an example of something tangible when you do trust in the great bearded-guy-in-the-sky?

I said something tangible...why is it so hard for you people to think rationally?

Leave aside Christians for a moment and ask,how ,when and why a God came in to being?Humans have always looked and searched the source which can help them in to what they can't handle themselves, at any point of time. All inventions, discoveries and the spiritual practices indicate human intent to do that and some more. So,having invented God,the least they could do was to convince themselves that it works for the purpose .Now,having made an aircraft, wouldn't you like to believe that it works for the purpose, before flying in to it.It's the same with 'trust in God'.It's a wish,an affirmation .a reminder .a rejoinder and much more.Unfortunately,we can't verify God as we can an aircraft, for functionality and other aspects. But the whole basis of all the spirituality is assumptive in nature and thus dependent on the belief alone. If American currency says 'In God we trust',better believe in it, because America is the only country in the world with highest trade-deficit[Money to be paid by it to the out side world ie a sort of indebtedness ]and yet with the strongest international currency. No law of Economics can support it ,so God is the only answer, like in other absurdities.

I guess the most tangible thing I can think of would be titheing I guess. Giving up 10% of your paycheck isn't the easiest thing to do sometimes but you trust in God that he will provide the things you need when you need them and it always seems to work out fine even though it doesn't look like it will a lot of times. Of course, most people who don't believe like that would just call it luck or coincidence etc. so take it for what it's worth. And for the record to some of your other answerers.......just because someone doesn't believe in God doesn't make them ignorant. There is no DEFINITIVE answer that any of us, no matter what belief, are right or wrong. On the flip side, just because some people do choose to believe in God, doesn't make them crazy or stupid. It is a personal choice for all of us and the lack of tolerance either way astounds me.

Trust is not tangible but if you really want to know what the Bible says about trust then you have to understand that it goes hand in hand with obediance. Most Christians don't understand that. When God asks something of us we are to trust that His Judgement is better than our own. One such situation would be to obey Him in matters of fidelity..or in actually all of the 10 Commandments, to trust in His Word in its entirety and not just the parts we choose. So when God says that He hears our prayers we can trust that He does. The tangible evidence comes from continuation of faith..there is our way which is a strong will toward a certain result but in most cases we are powerless and then there is God's will which inevitably means..what else ya gonna do? Either you will have the baby or you won't? Either you'll get the job or you won't? Some things are within our grasp but only because of advantages He gives us to begin with..an astute mind, a good sense of humor and other charectoristics...trust essentially means..when it all comes down...He made you, you belong to Him so you can either give yourself over to that fact or struggle in the world without acknowledging Him. Trust and Obey is the key message in the Bible. One such tangible evidence would be tything. We've been not even very faithful tythers but we have good intentions of becoming so and keep at it...so when we don't have it to give..or so it seems, should we trust God to let go of that money toward someone else's need and trust that He will see to ours or should we be "safe" and hang on to it just in case? The answer is to give it...because He won't leave us hanging...all our needs are met. Another prime example is to trust in God and not in man...this means that Joe Blow preacher down the street could be leading you down the primrose path...when in fact God's Word was designed to belong to you personally and with His guidence you have every advantage in the world of finding truths you may seek right there within. Whats really strange is that you don't even have to trust Him all that much...you can be full of doubt and insecurity and still, just with that little miniscule increment of faith, offer a burden to Him, He is faithful and just to see to it.

Trusting in God is learning to lean on Jesus no matter what the circumstance is. Whether it be a great day and everything going right or one of them days were you feel like saying what more could go wrong. One must trust God despite the type of day you are having to lead you in the direction you ought to go. And the direction is spiritual not necessarily physical journey. It not saying get up and go to work, but getting up and starting your day with God and continuing on to work. It is relying on God to help you deal with those relationships in the office or school in a peaceful way. Learning not to be judgmental of others no matter the cost.

Tangible (ability to touch) - trusting in God. I trust him everytime I leave the house to protect me, I trust God in the car when it is raining on poor roads.... I use common sense cause God gave me a brain and does not ask me to check it out when I check in with him.

I trust him to do what is best with bad situations (Rom 8:28)

Christians trust in God whenever they're in dire straights: like an illness or tragedy in the family or when hitting personal rock bottom.

Most times, people are just living their lives and don't give God as much thought as he might (or not) deserve. For most Christians, when they have reason to be grateful or when they have reason to fear, God looms large.

Whether you're an atheist or a devout Christian, the real test of God is when you face tragedy or death.

Some people are REALLY like the woman in the song, "Jesus, take the wheel".

As a devout agnostic, I see the comfort a faith in God can be to the devout . . . but it's still hard for me to believe that faith makes the loss of a loved one any easier to bear or accept.

I could be wrong. I've never lost a loved one. But surely my heart would ache just as much, with or without God.

Trusting in God allows people that don't have the strength to work through their problems on their own a way to look to the heavens in hope to get through a problem and gives them a way out when something bad happens to avert away from dealing with it by saying it is "in God's hands" and if the problem works out they can give the credit to God. There is a god in the sense of whatever you want to call the force that makes the planets move and keeps the sun shining, but he/she/it is not concerned with my problems any more than that of any other living thing in the universe.

I've never been too certain about this aspect, either.

Same thing with the phrase, "to pray on it," when a situation arises requiring a decision or action.

However, I do "pray," in that throughout the day, I tend to hold a quiet "dialogue" with God, expressing gratitude, asking for guidance, or asking for extra attention to others in need. It's not really structured, and not overt, but it is something that I've done for years. My faith tells me that God is there, and that my dialogue (or prayers) is heard. Perhaps that is what "trust in God" refers to.

Here is what the Bible says about trusting in the Lord: Proverbs 3:5,6 Trust in the Lord with all your heart and learn not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

I trust in the Lord to remove a big cyst from my body and He removed it. Previously I went to remove it by surgery but it grew back in the same area. Now it never came back.

When your daughter is on dialysis and she desperately needs a kidney and pancreas transplant. When you can't go anymore on your own strength and you have to trust God to give the strength that you require.

When you get so close to the Lord that the devil attacks your family with everything in that evil devil. You stand on the Word of God and trust Him.
