We have been fighting in Iraq for years. The country has been bombed and rebombed and still we feel we are losing this war.Something is not right. These persons have no armies or planes only civil disobedience in the name of car bombs and killing persons thru suicide. Lets look at this realistically and find out what or why we are suppossed to be losing. Its melting the north pole the heat from oil fields burning and bombings and the general census of who cares?? Its not happening atitutude needs to be addressed. Cars need to be upgraded to safe measures or time spans need to be implicated for air quality. Like driving 2 hours a day maximum. Real issues need answers.
Do you have any ideas how to address this mess?

We need to get out of Iraq because it's consuming too much of our time, attention, and resources. Practically every question in the presidential debates is about Iraq. Meanwhile global warming may be the most critical issue in human history, and it's treated like an afterthought. Our priorities need to change before it's too late.

First of all, you would find a linch mob lined up if politicans tried to limit driving to two hours per day. Many people drive that long just to get to work. America has some major issues and there is no quick fix.

One, this is a big country and public transportation is not available every where. We have many rural areas where public rail or bus transportation is not real possibility because of the cost.

Our National Defense is based on petroleum to run our equipment so, since we have more oil off the California and Florida coasts, lets drill for it. Go 50 miles out and drill and produce the oil that is there. It is estimated that we have about 50 years worth of oil and gas off the west coast and the east coast from Virgina to Florida and in the Alaska Wildlife area.

Each barrel of oil we get from these areas, is one less we have to import at the OPEC rate. That would also buy us time to become more energy efficent and come up with an affordable alternative. We dont have those options right now.

Global warming, what a crock. Even the scientists argue both ways for global warming. I like the common sense approach. Man can make a mess of things, but when we are coming out of an Ice Age, the earth will warm up. The sun is getting hotter so that is part of it and I dont think green house gases are fueling the sun.

The earth pollutes iteself everytime a volcano erupts, or more crude oil or gas seeps out of the ocean floor, like it does in the western pacific. We need to realize there are things we cannot control, only nature can. Cut back on what we can and let nature take its course.

A good dose of common sense goes a long ways these days, but very few use it.

The car represents more then our materialistic ideals in America - it is a sincere form of a freedom to go where we want, when we want, etc. Most people would be surprised to know that automobiles cause about 40% of the emission problems in America - not the majority like most people think. Farmers and industry produce the rest and its a "dirty little secret."

Common left wing thinking is mass transit and that is because mass transit is social, it requires unions, and taxes. They love it. Conservatives offer only "drill here and drill there" solutions which are not all that much better.

The answer is bio diesel right now. We could convert 50% of our fuel supply into bio diesel using algae instead of food crops in about 10 years time if we put our minds to it. It costs about $3 a gallon too and once the big investments are in the costs can actually go down. Then Americans can drive where they want, when they want, and have a permanent renewable energy source. Oh and bio diesel reduces emissions by about 60% overall.

congress actually just up'ed the gas milage, average fleet wide mpg is like 23-24 right now for all new cars in the US, it will be 35 by 2015 or 220 somethign like that. i thought they could have been more aggressive. just limit the amount of people who can drive big pickups and SUVs and force more small cars onto the road through legislation. of course the idiots would whine and cry though that its their right to have a big wasteful car and squander the resources everyone shares, so most politicians dont have the balls to do that because they would be scared of losing office. its too tough to control how much people are allowed to drive, best thing to do is raise efficiency in my opinion

and even if you dont beleive in global warming, there is only enough oil for it to be a cost efficient widely used fuel for the world for another 50-100 years. it could be no more in your own lifetime. and we really dont have anything good to replace it with.

So now the Iraq war is responsible for global warming! Gee, I guess I should have seen that one coming.

You are right that REAL issues need answers. Unfortunately, your interpretation of global warming is not a real issue.

Real Issues Need Real Answers.

Now there is a real thinker! "We need answers! We want the truth!"

Hey toosie... you can't hand the truth!

Truth is Man Made Global Warming is a myth. It's fuzzy bunny science thunk-up by feel-good-Liberals and moronic Greens.

Please save me from the Saviors-Of-The-World-Crowd!

moving on...

Well, global warming has happened cyclicly for millions of years. Are you suggesting that we try to pour our money into something that is statistically inevitable regardless of human intervention???

America is the land of procrastination. Once the resources expire we will have a replacement. It's Big Business, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".

If you really want to make a difference stop worrying about everyone else and change your ways.
