Take ultimate responsiblity for all things you do and are, and all that happens around you. Realize that while part of the infinite, one with it, you are still you and the laws of cause and effect are absolute. Know that there is no soul, nothing that defines or seperates you from all that is, but that does not relieve you from your responsiblities to the current day. There is no past, no future, only the eternal now. All that was is memory, that will be is but imagination. Do not merely accept this, know and live it. If you do, you will always, in any situation know what the right thing to do is, because you will view your actions as a whole and their effects as part of you.

Peace be upon you.

Excellent Question! I ask my self this on a regular basis and my best answer is, seek stillness daily. When I quiet my thoughts, I am refreshed in the Now. A practice I like is to notice as much of my Now as I can. I used to be very impatient, high strung. Sitting in my car at a stop light, waiting, used to really bug me, until one day years ago, after reading Dan Millman's book A Peaceful Warrior, I started to wake up and see that there truly are NO Ordinary Moments!
My 'boredom' was instantly transformed into unmeasurable
fascination as I realized that NEVER will this moment in time be reproduced. It is unique and full of life all around me. The blue car next to me full of silly children's noises, the woman sitting at the bus stop, the bird above, the young man with the dog crossing the street, all unique to THIS MOMENT! "My God" I cried. How utterly astounded I was that I missed this for so long! The word boredom left my vocabulary for GOOD! The old mechanistic Universe I thought I lived in was now SO ALIVE, and I wept in Gratitude for the Beauty and Grace of this existence. I have Hope in my life because I find that personality is real and a gift I will never over look again... I don't spend time trying to figure out all the right answers, I just Love and Adore the Great Personality who gave me my free ticket to this fabulous carnival ride with all it's perfect imperfections.
Peace

Buff is quite right, there are many who have discovered the wonder expressed in a moment, this unique moment we experience.

How to live in such a moment takes some concentration and a little effort. Valerie C. you are so very right, such a wonderful world in which we Live when we concentrate just a little.

There are 2 main things to remember, maintain this concentration and to make a little effort to focus on the volitions we exhibit when we do things. Concentrating on these volitions, follow through by examining each action, over time this will be automatic and will take just a little less concentration to maintain the awareness because the awareness action will become normal behaviour. This helps us Unlearn the habits we have learned over a lifetime of ignoring these moments...

I hope this helps...

Living simply can only be done in the present moment. There is no other.

Know that everything that has ever happened, every life that was ever lived, all good and all evil ever done, has combined to make now exactly what it is.
The present is the sum total of all the best qualities of humanity, it's the dynamic cutting edge of reality.

Your duty towards now and respect for it has to be strong given that.

Simply I perform my duties honestly up to my available resources, I do not worry for anything as I have full faith in Allah, I try not to remember the bad happings or saying of my past, I try to forget and Let it go, which is not for my personal growth, and I do Love all things from the core of my heart as they are at the present moment. I do enjoy my life as it comes to me, easy or full of hardships as it is, I never did long planning, and I have not any expectation from any body, I only expect that I will be helpful to somebody with my resources if I am put to test by Allah. I love to enjoy Nature, my food , my body, my relations, and life as it is. The moments of Silence are my favourite, and I spend my time in meditating on things as they are, and I do enjoy the wisdom which I receive in the present moment, and I do pay gratitude to all, whom I do encounter in my life, as I do learn something from all living and nonliving things.Life to me is too beautiful to live, and thankyou dear for taking me in my depths, Shanti, OM.

Love is found within when it is no longer believed to be in the object of your devotion. Peace is found when there is no more need for non-peace. Joy is found when there is no more reason to be sad. Surrender happens when there is the recognition of the futility of struggle.

One lives in the present when it is no longer believed that the ghosts of the past hold the key to the imaginary future.

You just do, quit being somewhere else mentally ... daydreaming, wandering thoughts, thinking about the past or future while doing something else. Do one thing while maintaining mindfulness on that one thing. Very, very difficult to do, but with regular practice and mindfulness you get increasingly more proficient. Meditation gives you the tools, the rest of life gives you the test.
