My physical body is a vessel for my spirit which has a separate intellect called my soul. When this earthen vessel breaks and the silver cord parts -- or the second coming of Christ; whichever comes first -- I will no longer require this physical body and will be transfigured into a spiritual one and returned to the Father which gave both to me.

The TEMPLE of the HOLY SPIRIT. A gift if i ever were to marry, to my wife. An image of my soul in the material world. A part of this world of dust, that makes me a king of the animals being greater than the animals and less than the least in HEAVEN. We all suffer from the infirmity of the flesh. Because where the spirit is willing the flesh is weak.
LOVE your neighbor as yourself.
Amen.
:reponsorial edit: Az, i don't agree our bodies and souls are not seperate. That leads to thinking we can do with our bodies as we desire with it without consequence, as the body will die. But our bodies and our souls are tied together as one while we live in our bodies. You can't seperate the two. When the body dies and returns to dust your soul will still LIVE in JESUS, that much is TRUE. And the body is the TEMPLE of the HOLY SPIRIT. But it is not just a toy for pleasure. All these experiences impress the soul and become part of us. and our souls are expressed in the world by the body. By the same token we call the union of the flesh and the SPIRIT of JESUS CHRIST they hypostatic union where GOD is MAN . .. both GOD AND MAN JESUS is . .. the WORD made flesh. We are not DIVINE but have a sort of hypostatic union of soul and flesh so they are unified and not seperate . .. it is that when we die the body returns to the dust, but in the resurrection we will be raised up to a SPIRITual body .. . Some saints who have kept their purity of heart and body have had their corpses remain incorruptable to this day . .. you can look this up . .. it is a fact.
LOVE your neighbor as yourself.
Amen.
:Responsorial Edit: Lilith, Labor not for the food which perishes, labor for the food which is eternal. (John 6:27)

it's so many things. A way to be in the material world and experience material plane things. A temporary home for my soul while it become sophisticated enough to eventually move on to more subtle digs. Today the projects, tomorrow, Eden. My body gives me perfect feedback for how I run my mind. If I think good thoughts, my body is healthy and a pleasure to be in. If I whine and complain, it gets sick and reflects back my mistakes of mind. We have to be in the material world and these physical bodies so we learn how to see this relationship between our mind and our bodies. And that's all I have to say about that.

My body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.
1 Corinthians 6:19 (New International Version)
19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;

I am not a believer in the "ghost in the machine" idea. I am my body. I am a little ticked off at it these days because of some physical problems I am having, but I accept those problems and deal with them because I have no other choice.

A burden. A very heavy burden. But my friend Vanessa has committed herself to helping me reduce the burden.
It's the vehicle I ride in, the covering I wear. The disguise I wear, really. Inside this fat old hag is a lovely young maiden, in prison.

The physical vessel for consciousness; a part of consciousness, that is - the small part that I call myself.
