I know that Simms provided instruments to a lot of the British motor industry until the 1960s, but other than your guess on a Standard Vanguard I have no further Idea. Do you have a motor museum nearby? I know that Coventry Transport museum, Glasow Museum of Transport, and even Alexandria Motor museum (in the basement of the 1907 Argyll car works) have Standards in their collection.
