everyone acts different no matter what age. when people say act your own age it isnt your age that they mean-its 40 years older than you are.
why do some people want to grow up so fast? is it wrong to live life looking at the bright side of things and being happy?

maybe i dont need to act older. you need to act younger. why not just enjoy life while you have it?

btw, im 23. not 16 trying to act 21 or something like that.
23 is an age where i should be able to party without people getting mad at me.
i still go to work from 8 to 5. so i dont see why people get so upset about making jokes every once and a while.

Amen Sister! I am almost always happy and almost always look at the brighter side. I say almost because at the ripe young age of 47 I have tasted enough of life to know that occasionally there is heart ache.

I have had a personal saying for years that asks "how old would you be if no one told you how old you are"? My heart is much younger then what 'the world' thing you should be. My husband however who is 48 acts years OLDER and is seldom happy with life. AND when I am joyful or a little silly (and trust me I am not talking immature!) it irritates him.

I don't think it is really a matter of acting younger but perhaps joyful living. Too many people think that as you get older you much be stoic and long faced. Piffel to that. Stay young and joyful and filled with wonder. I plan to even when I'm 90!

I am forty years old and I'll be darn if I am going to act my age!! How boring. Am I suppose to just wait around for death to take me from this earth? I don't think so. I have morals but I am not going to act a certain way just because of a number. If you don't like how your friend acts then find someone else to hang out with but trust me, she'll be having so much more fun than you!

happiness does not have to equate with immaturity; Im not sure where that idea came from. You can enjoy life without acting like a kid.
Theres a time and a place for everything. You can be happy without cracking jokes at work and tossing a few back at the bar. Being happy is all relative. Its the way you care to display it that makes people call your happiness immaturity.

When we say that we are saying you acting immature. No we do not mean to act 40 years older than you are. There are certain things expected of us at certain ages in our life. When a 16 year old goes around acting like she has no care in the world and doesn't show any concern for others in the process that is not acting 16. that is immaturity. Get used to it. We all say it. We all do it and one day you will as well with your children or young family members.

I think it important to be our authentic self. It is good to mature.
It is good to gain wisdom. We all need to know the boundries of certian situations.

But......we are alway who we are. Some people are born an old person. Some remain imature and never get out of the phase of Junior High.

Balance is the key, Respect your age, respect your sense of humor, your inner child. Your joyful self. Your humorous self.
Your sense of adventure.

I am 57 years old & I sometimes feel like the little me at age 5 who climbed the ladder of a high dive - suddenly scared.
There were kids behind me and kids in front of me. When it was my turn I had no choice but to walk to the end of the diving borad. then I froze. I was prompted to jump because the other kids were yelling at me "jump jump jump"
The little scared me jumped and felt like I would never reach the surface of the pool. I did and I was in big trouble with my mother.

Even now I often feel like the little 5 year old on the edge of a high precipice knowing I have to jump. Little me did it--- older me can do it again. Jumping into the unknown is part of life.

I haven't lost the silly child in me. I like it

i'm 28. i'm constantly being told that i act older than i am. i honestly don't know if i should take it as a compliment, or feel bad about it. i'm generally a happy-go-lucky person. i'm not told that because i never smile, or because i never have fun, but i do get told that. i think it has a lot to do with the fact that i'm a very family-oriented person, yet i still don't have my own family. i don't like to drink (anymore), and i realize there are more things to life than partying and chasing women. so i don't know... sometimes it's a compliment and a way for people to tell me i'm mature for my age, and sometimes i take it as a way for a person to tell me to lighten up a little bit.

gurl, its part of human nature, just coz people dont act their don mean they dont enjoy life, not every in life can be happy, then u know u aint living life, coz u need the other side of happy to grow, so can be happier.yes in some cases it has anegative effect if kids try act older, for example 11 yr old french kissing like its happening, it is a negative thing but, u can older to be more responsible it has also a positive effect, but the other side is when u older u would want to act younger coz u missed childhood, my point, its human nature to want the things we cant have.

With different ages comes different levels of maturity. It depends on what you aren't acting your age about but some things in life are serious and do require a serious attitude to go with it.
