I don't mean that in a mean way, I just don't want his feelings hurt when he fails (which he will)

Maria was right in saying WOW!

That would have been my answer if she didn't get to it first.

People are never too DUMB to go to college. If anything I am surprised that you would say this because that just proves how intelligent he is. Whether or not he fails it is his choice and a choice he is making to improve himself.

As for you being a friend I think you need reevaluate what type of friend are you since you can't support your friend in his decision to go to college or better yet find some other friends to hang out with that will embrace your judgemental nature; cause your very smart going to college to improve his life friend is going to meet very smart going to college people that will be better friends than you.

Well, where I'm from, things are a little silly. There are places where my sister works with positions open. But they can only be filled by people with a college degree. HOWEVER, what you majored in DOESN'T MATTER. My sister's boss is only her boss because she sat in a school for four years. She majored in liberal arts, one of the most useless degrees you can get.
So tell your friend to go to a community college, and pick the easiest major he can think of, and aim for an associates. He'll automatically have an edge over everybody with just a high school diploma.
Employers don't care what you're educated in. They just want to see that piece of paper that says "I have a degree." You can have a degree in accordian theory for all they care.

Your not a good friend. He is not dumb. Yes this would hurt his feeling. Let him go to college you do not know if he going to pass or fail cause you are not him. Some people have learning disability you know and other people just think they are dumb but they are not dumb they just learn alot slower then other people. He needs to dump you and get a new friend. I hope he passes to prove to your *** he is smart.

Wow. I would start by saying something mean to you, but that won't help your friend. I don't know why you assume he will fail in college, but that's not your choice to make. Why would you discourage him? Why don't you give him some study pointers or encourage him to start at community college to bring up his GPA? Absolutely nothing will be gained by telling him not to go.

P.S.- Life is all about trying, failing and trying again.

Look, don't. That would be very silly. Ask him this:
What do you wanna be when you get older?
Whatever he says, tell him he betta work harder! Don't make him feel bad by telling him he isn't smart enough for college. I've been the one told that(not to go to college) and it doesn't feel good to be told that by your own friend.

a college education is open to any ability, from special needs to super smart, he will be assesed and educated at his own level, why not try and help him find the right course and aid his application, wanting to protect him is understandable, and admirable, but there is more than one way to be a good friend here, good luck

How dare you! You are an aweful person. I don't care what his IQ is, at least he's trying. Let him find out for himself. He may surprise you...the only "dumb" thing about that whole situation is that he calls you a friend.

What a ****** of a friend. Why not help him become smarter.
I thought I was too dumb, but I am in my 2nd year. I hope you decide to send this to him to see how superficial and shallow you are.

With friends like you, who needs enemies?

Sounds like you really WANT him to fail just to prove a point. I'm sure he'll do well, with or without your input.

pfftt.. He can do anything he wants..

Dont convince him not to do something thats not your job to control your friends, its your job to give an opinion, try "College is pretty hard, You know you are going to have to really try and stick to it to pass"..

College isnt that hard, depending on what you do, you just have to stay focused (thats what im told).

Plus what do YOU KNOW? He might just pass it and do better then you. Seriously, who are you, to tell him to not to try..
