Have yet to make a report to car insurance already filed a police report. Any suggestion on how I can get reimbursed for this. Items were purchased yesterday only and I have original receipt with me and they are in the police report too

Do you also have home owner's / renter's insurance. They may have some kind of coverage on computer equipment. Contact your insurance agent. They may have some sort of coverage.

Please note: for computers, the coverage on a homeowners / renters insurance policy may be limited, or it could even be excluded.

I agree with the first person to answer this question that thieves rarely check the trunk of a car unless they know something is there. I have parked in some bad neighborhoods in Philadelphia and never had any problem with things getting stolen from the trunk [basically because there was never anything in the trunk].

Once you have at least checked out whether there is coverage on your home owner's / renter's insurance, then contact credit card company. Make your first approach by calling the toll-free number on your credit card. The coverage under the credit card policy may require you to first apply for home owner's / renter's insurance on the loss.
