I will pick it up, to find out to whom it belongs and try my best to return it to the authentic owner.....just to say THANKS to GOD in my own way....because once I had lost mine and got it back.

If i saw a wallet lying in the pavement naturally i will pick it. Then i will open the wallet to look for informations about the person who lost the wallet. After identifying the lawful owner i will return the wallet personally and tell him to be careful. If there is nothing i can locate on one's information, i will declare that it is my luck this day because there will be many owners if i announce who's wallet belongs to this. Finders keepers, so they say.

I would pick it up and I would look inside if I find a phone number or address and I would try to contact the owner as soon as possible. If no phone number or address to find, I would give it to the next police station.
Either way, I would give it back to the people the way I found it. I would not remove anything from it. This would not even come into my mind.
Why i would do it this way? Just feels right to me and a decent thing to do and I would expect other people to do that for me if I would loose my wallet. I would find it disappointing if somebody took something out of my wallet. Rather I would like to give them a reward for their honesty and helpfulness and I for sure would.

I Will pick it up and keep it in my safe custody till such time someone claims as his or hers with sufficient proof. I become bailey of lost goods as status and no court can sue me. In case rightful owner does not appear after reasonable time and search I give a notice in paper and dispose the contents or keep the cash if no contents are salable. If the contents give me a clue to the true owner I send a certified letter to the address given.Any amount I spend in the upkeep and correspondence I will recover from the owner/retain the same and give the balance to the owner. Yeah. that is what the law says.As to what I do you never know.I may give to charity and give a present to wife? No. I will give to the nearest police station or legal authority. I definitely not stand on the wallet till such time the place is deserted and pick up and pocket the cash and throw it in garbage bin.
Thanks for citing an interesting scenario! tempting... just to answer.

I will pick-up the wallet. Look around and see if any one is approaching to claim it. If yes verify the authenticity and hand it to him/her. if no, look inside for Business card etc and if it is available contact the person. If no details are found, if possible leave a message that you are taking the purse (For example if found in a hotel to which you are regular).
If no details are found take the wallet, take the money and donate it to an orphanage.

I would pick it up and attempt to return it to its' rightful owner...
(If I couldn't find that owner by phone or email, I would send all the contents of the wallet, minus any huge wad of cash I found in it, and if it was less than $20, they get it all back, to the address on the person's driver's license, and leave my ex-girlfriend's place of residence as a return address, as I do with all my bills...)
(just kidding about the bills...I just do that with my speeding tickets...)

I would pick it up and ask around if anyone lost it.
Then I would take it home and call the person.
I believe we need to treat people the way we want to be treated.
Random acts of kindness.........just might make it a better world.
