O, what fun they were!! They do seem to have died a death dont they? I guess because of computers and mobiles. Its a shame - I used to have hours of fun! Went out on two different handles and different voices and no-one ever knew - I loved it!! Lol!! Bring CB radio back I say!!

What a blast from the past! Been around em since I was 7 as my Mum was on, then got my own at 16 and was on on and off till I was 20, am 30 now! Not had one since. Last time I had one it was mostly dead on there and just kids keying out 19 with music, think people use chat rooms now, dont get bleedover that way!!!

CB does certainly seem to be a lost cause. Maybe some lorry drivers still use them ?,
as they are cheaper than using Mobile phones ? Although many trucks now have PMR set ups, and I imagine companies wouldn't be keen on their drivers using CBs in their trucks.
Handy for small communities to keep in contact too.

Amateur radio certainly isn't dead. Many of us still use 2m & 70cms for mobile operation, and some now use digital radios. Plenty of people still doing the
amateur radio foundation courses.

Excellent question!

I believe they are still used by the trucking community. I guess for home use they will have died a death, with the internet and PMR (personal mobile radio) being so much easier, cheaper, and licence free.

Ooh, I used to love the cb - good memories! I don't know of anyone that still has one though.... Perhaps it only works when you're young!

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.

According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.
