Your best bet is a coin dealer or a coin club near you. The coins need to be seen to be graded, for grade determines value. Also if U.S. coins the mint marks mean a lot and you need to know where to find them on the different denominations and series. If you can determin the mints marks and give me the date and denomination i can give you a ballpark or at least let you know you have something rare. I can also help on world coins. it is up to you, email me here or as i said a dealer would be best, if there is one in your area. Remember U.S. coins go to that type dealer and world coins to a world coin dealer. Most U.S. dealers have no idea of world coin values and won't give you a fair price.

Find a coin dealer. They will basiclly give you the price that they would pay you for them. Then you could check out ebay to find the same type and grade of coin you have, and see how much people are willing to pay. Seems folks a willing to pay more for coins on ebay than whay they will pay at a dealers shop.
