While you're not really asking a question here, I'll try to explain why they do this....

First of all, during baseball season the Yankees & Red Sox are the most discussed and followed teams, just look at the overwhelming number of questions on this board about the two teams.

The second most discussed item is Barry Bonds, because he's surrounded in controversy and discussion always brings up strong emotions in people (love him or hate him).

So, from ESPN's point of view, the Sox, Yankees, and Bonds are going to keep the majority of people tuned in to watch their program because that's what the majority of people want. I know it can be a bit much, but there's always other forms of media out there where you could ignore the stories that you don't like (internet, newspaper, etc).

Sports coverage has always been the kiddie pool of the media, but the current, named obsessions are reflective of the state of journalism in the land in these dark times -- it's all about selling, selling, selling it, and what genuine storylines are out there get reduced to emotional drool.

What's even more disgusting is how media outlets get to play both sides. Lookit Bonds -- there goes another homer! Yay! But he "cheated" so go ahead and hate him. Boo! (And why? Because both people and haters buy newspapers, click websites, watch teevee. Stand for nothing but ratings.)

i only watch espn for the score thingy across the bottom of the screen if i cannot or are too lazy to get my answers on the net.. i dont pay any attention to their content anymore.. i mean if any of the tigers make a great play, it wont be in the top 10. they dont seem to mention any teams in baseball except for the yankees, red sox and mets or will in passing.. i can get that other crap on the yes network.. and i dont need 23 hours of yankees either...when it comes to hockey, and the red wings, and espn.. well, you dont even want to hear that rant....f espn.
