We have been dating for yrs, we were both legally married but seperated (totally diferent homes) when we began. My divorce has been final for a while now, his has taken quite longer but he is working in that direction. I am confused, he wants to have an Islamic wedding with me. I am totally in love and commited to him. Can this be okay'd through Allah? Can we go through this marriage and be blessed? What if we already have a child together, can we be washed of those sins and have a happy marriage with God as our focus? He had a brother do the ceremony for our son after birth but I want everything ok in the eyes of God. We do not live together and will not be able to do that for a while. Does this matter? Do we need to do anything extra to be forgiven for having sex before the union? Please help!!!

For the christian aspect, simply confessing your sins in the confession booth to the priest and god will redeem you and your boyfriend. You should ask your boyfriend if there is anything like this in his religion. If not, prayer simply changes everything. Pray to allah and ask forgiveness.

If you are in a non-islamic country then what you two are about to do is bigamyyyyyy.
The man is still legally married how the hell you think he can marry you!
But I guess you love him so much that you donot realise what you are getting into.
Girl, donot dive into islamic culture without knowing anything.
Read the quran you will get your answers, surah Al Nisa which means The women will help you alot.
Islamic men are allowed to marry up to four wives if they can treat them equally so you will be number two.
So Allah will forgive you because in his eyes you sin...islamic women are forbidden to commit adultery!Read Surah: Al Nisa and you shall see what happens if you commit adultery.
It seems you have this pattern of cheating so you will be either locked up in a house for life or be killed.
You will have to convert ,the Quran says that"donot trust the people of the book" and the people of the book are jews and christians so be prepared to convert.
Its your choice but know more about the strict islamic culture before you take another step.
Goodluck

If he is still married to another on paper then HE IS STILL MARRIED! What a mess! Is he really getting a divorce or just leading you on - do you have proof? I think you are a very foolish woman..

Can't answer about the religious stuff but I do know if you are in the USA, we do not marry other woman's husbands. Moving in that direction after several years? Baloney.

I guess I don't know what Allah expects...but in the U.S.A. "married on paper" mean STILL MARRIED...so no, you can't marry someone who is still married. Quite frankly, you shouldn't even be dating a married man.

Isn't it kind of late to wonder about those questions now?

If your real question is whether the Koran accepts polygamy; then, the answer is yes, it does.
