Both are incorrect. Peace is a consequence; an effect. The cause of peace is Justice... Justice means to get what you deserve; good or bad, reward or punishment. If everybody gets what they deserve, everybody will be at peace.

The 'source' of peace is best exemplified in a question; "Is there any such thing as a reasonable demand?" The answer is obviously YES! The demand to be reasonable etc...

Remember that a demand is a request backed by the threat of force, you can demand that 'others' respect your rights, as you would expect them to demand the same from you...

You can demand a 'cause' but not an 'effect' - you can 'ask' (politely) for a free feed, a place to sleep, an education, medical attention etc but you cannot make it a demand without violating the rights of those who provide it. A demand for Justice however, a demand to be free from compulsion, or force from others, is perfectly 'reasonable' and valid. The only possible 'source' for this 'demand' is a proper government - a government that protects and upholds individual rights.

As there can be no such thing as the right to violate rights, whether by an individual or a group, a government that does so is not an upholder of rights, but an annihilator of rights and the cause of injustice by default.

I feel at peace when I'm watching infomercials at 4 in the morning, with a big tub of frozen cookie dough in my lap.

That's probably not the answer you were looking for, though.

Number One.
Peace is a state of mind.

It can be acquired anywhere, anytime.
All it needs is the right density.
