Really, am I blind, or just realistic?

Nothing special about it. I probably couldn't write fiction that well (it's not my thing; too much of a waste of time), but the work could easily pass for a high school short story. Good night!

The character's lungs were thankful?

When she taught in the Clarion workshops, Kate Wilhelm would draw a line under the text at the point where she would stop reading if, as a teacher, she didn't have to keep reading. Students called this the Line of Death.

Thankful lungs. My Line of Death goes right under that. Such an attribution of psychological state to lungs tells me that I'm in the hands of an imprecise writer. But I hope the author won't read what I'm saying here, because such criticism is painful if you didn't seek it out!
