First construct the vector a on the x-axis pointing to the right (east). Then place the base of vector b at the tip of vector a, pointing 35º west of north, which is the same as 125º from the x-axis. Make the length of each vector proportional to its magnitude.

For part a), the base of vector b is placed on the tip of vector a; for part b), vector b is rotated 180º from its position in part a). The result in each case is the vector from the origin to the tip of vector b.
