In Australia, it is natural for our media to blow up and focus entirely on the Australian role in world history, and in current events. I want your alternate opinion on matters.
If Australia was to withdraw it's support from the USA in all it's current war zones, remove the Free Trade Agreement between said nations, and cancel it's mutual defense treaties -do you think the USA would be impacted significantly. if so, how much?

Oh don't worry, I watch said news over 7, 9 & 10. I am seeking U.S opinions though.
But oh god, don't go for current affairs programs! ACA, TT, 60 Minutes, all of them are called 'Tabloid Television'. Worse than watching Sports Tonight looking for the latest Russian Political scandal.

I think it would be a sad day as our countries have enjoyed a long history of mutual cooperation. However, I do not think that the United States would be significantly effected by such a decision on any noticeable scale. At least not from the perspective of the average citizen.

I can't think of any reason why Americans would have anything but friendship for Australia and its people. Everyone I know likes and respects the Aussies. Of course with some of the people now managing to get themselves elected to Congress, Ghod only knows what off-the-wall ideas they will come up with. But it would be sad if the US should for any reason cease being friends with Australia. I think the country and its people are wonderful, and I would dearly love to visit there some day. Yes, I'm an American.

It would not impact on the US at all in any real sense. They might write about it in the newspaper - for a day,on the 3rd page - but it really wouldn't worry them at all.
Just a little gentle advice, start watching ABC or SBS news and current affairs programs if you want a better world view of things. The big 3 TV channels are useless, hopeless and not worth the bother (and don't get me started on the press!).

I think we take each other for granted . We would miss each other mutually. I believe as good friends often go their seperate ways , there is always a memory of the good times together. I think losing the Aussies` as a friend and ally would have a sobering effect on most Americans !

As much as I like the Aussies, I think that it would hurt and affect Australia much more than the US if we weren't allies. However, Australia is a very important ally of ours and we should never take Austrailias friendship for granted.

Australia has been a very good ally and one of our best friends. I love the Ozzies! If all those events happen, we'd lose a great ally and a great friend but I don't think we'd suffer alot. You've been with us in all the wars we've been in, no matter who was in power. That takes alot of guts in my opinion. I think even if all those events happen, we're still going to be close allies. Thanks!

just emotionally, Americans feel a kinship with Australians, but a total economic withdrawal would have a much greater affect on Australia and America would be only moderately affected.

Although Australia's location is strategically critical, I think the biggest blow would be psychological - I just can't imagine them not being an ally.

i don't think the usa would notice. they wouldn't miss the three soldiers, the $10 worth of imports, or the treaty that stops the russians from attacking the usa because the aussies won't allow it
just being honest, i love the aussies. put a shimp on the barbie for me
