Im' 5'8" and latino. Many asian girls pass by me and i see that they are taller. So why the myth that asians are short. And i'm telling this cause i've seen lots: girls and guys of asian countries OR asian americans AND they are taller.

Heigth has a lot to do with nutrion - - - when Asians subsisted primarilly on a diet of rice and rice they tended to top out at five & six or eight, now that they are eating more beef & chicken, they're shooting up into the clouds. Also the coastal Chinese and Southern Japanese & Okinawans has traditionally been 'short' whereas the inland and northern Chinese and Northern Japanese are actually quite tall; hence basketball players from China and recent news reports about the world's tallest man marrying, he is from Mongolia. More Asians from inner China are migrating than in the past.
Here in Hawai'i it is amusing seeing firs 'immigrant' parents who top out at five & six and their pre teen children TOWER over them. Michelle Wie the Golfing Phenon is tall & shapely, she is of Korean heritage. One odd pair I am aware of were an ancient Korean Grandmother who was no taller than four & eight and her weight was likely eighty pounds. Her granddaughter age five towered over her by a foot and out weighed her by twenty or thirty pounds.
So it is a dying myth given short shift by changes in diet and nutrition.

Currently the tallest guy in the world is from Mongolia, he is 7 foot 9 inches tall. I think we get that label because frankly there is just more of our race then any other in the world so our seed is a lot more spread out. I am around your size and I am the smallest of the family. If you do the research La Raza is genetically linked to us anyways because the early Native Americans walked ver from Asia around 100,000 years ago on a Ice bridge that connected the Old World to the New.

The whole asians are short thing is kind of like pale English people, or the blonde Swiss person. There are many asians who aren't short, just like there are many tanned English people or brunette Swiss.

many nations saw their people grow taller as their nutrition improved; perhaps the stereotype was born from times when nutrition of Asians was poorer, for those who had the most contact with westerners at least.
