I'm a fairly young adult (27) and I enjoyed finally having the chance to learn ballet and hip hop while in college. I am hoping to start taking dance classes again in the future. I have no ambitions to be a professional dancer--just want to dance for the shear fun of it. For those who started dance a bit later on in life, what have been your experiences?

Hi! I was in dance classes when I was young then stopped for a LONG time. I picked dancing back up when I was 28 and just did it for the fun of it. I remember when my teacher would talk about doing something in the professional dance world I thougt it was silly because that was not my intent at all. Its has been 3 and a half years and I'm I have my own business cards, I dance in a professional dance troupe and I dance solo as well. I love it! and also have a full time job in IT. There are girls in my class that have been coming to the class for many years and they do it just for fun. You should totally rejoin dancing!

I have been teaching adult classes for some time and I love it. The problem is most of the adults are so busy they can't stick to a weekly class. Make sure when you enroll you make a commitment and go to class every week. I have had many classes fizzle out because of poor attendance. When you miss class you hold everyone back. As long as you dance for you and go to class regularly you will be fine. Just have fun and when your tired and need a break, the best thing to do is go to class anyway! I promise you won't regret it!

I started to really take dancing lessons when I was in college. I paid for the classes, and have enjoyed it. I've been in plays and musicals. I really enjoy being in a class with like-minded people - someone who wants to learn but also to have a good time and not be pressured. I've taken mostly tap, but have added jazz and ballet.
