I'm refering to labels like emo, goth, etc.
...as for myself, i dont like labels...i dont like being stereotyped, but it happens to everyone, it is human nature i guess for others to judge

I don't know. I hate when they do.
Like when you are at school and people are like: Are you gothic? Are you goth? Are you emo? You get tired of saying no. And then they are like: Well what are you? And you get really mad at them and are like: I'm not anything! Gahh. Now go away you dumb idiot!.
Ughh. I can't stand people who label each other. Why can't they just leave you alone if they don't like what you wear or something? They need a life. Something to intertain themselves.
Yea. This is just what I think.

Labels help me know who is like me.
j/k I dont know, seriously some ppl just like to identify themselves with something so I would assume thats why they label themselves. Are you talking about just general labels like Im a female or Im a parent....or more indepth, like Im totally emo or goth?

most of the time people label other to exclude them from their "exclusive" group of people because they wanna look "cool" by being a Douche bag.
Other times their not computable around those people cuz their different than them.
When people label themselves they would like to think their part of a group or they want to be expected by a group.
but if its when their pretending their "emo" they just bitcin out for attention

It's how the human mind works. Labeling is one way for our minds to categorize others so that we may process info and all that crap. Sometimes, labeling is nice, and sometimes, it's not.

because they say that people are so busy these days, I'd guess it is done to cut down on the time it takes to actually get to know someone if they can just pigeon hole them into a catagory or generalization.
*people who do this are also labeled as: asshol.es.

It's human nature.
Everyone judges everyone else.
Labels are going to always be around.

It's a way to identify themselves, their likes, their dislikes, etc. It makes them feel like they belong to a group.

because high school is hard, homework requires thought, and society teaches us that people must be categorized in order to keep everyone distracted.
i'm an emo kid/raver/punk/rocker/band geek/theater nerd/gamer.

They just want to fit in with a certain crowd. I think it's a stupid waste of time.
