Do you read the instructions before putting something together, or do you just try to do it on your own first?

I try to put it together without reading the directions first.
Usually, I can get half way or more before I need to consult the directions. When I took the ASVAB test for the military I scored the highest in mechanical aptitude. When I apply myself, I usually have no trouble figuring it out by myself. The key is if I just do it or play on a guy for assistance.

Me, I like to read the instructions, then lay out all the peices, so I'm sure I have everything, and then put it together. Hubby on the other hand likes to fly blind, and only when it doesn't work, or he can't figure it out, then hands me the instructions, and I have to work out how to fix the mess!

If it's something important and needs to get done right then, or something I'm not at all familiar with, I'll more than likely look at the instructions, but usually I like to figure things out on my own.

I always try to do it myself, but then when I've basically broke the thing, I finally turn to the instructions.

Silly girl. That's why God invented boyfriends. If I don't hand him the box, he's just take it out of my hands and assemble my newest gadget.. Sometimes he'll check out the instructions but not always.
