get the dog to the vet and have it wormed. PERIOD. Home treatments dont work that well. Get a pro to do it.

It may be a tape worm or round worm, or some other type of worm. If it is a tape worm it's not to serious unless there is a large infestation. Take him to the vet though because even if it's just a small amount it can become serious over time or very quickly. Try to make a vet appointment sometime within the next couple of days and bring a stool sample to show to the vet. Don't worry too much but be sure to get him checked out. It can most likely be easily fixed with some de-wormer medication, but don't get him any until he's been properly diagnosed.

the pup should see a vet.. sounds like he has worms. Sometimes the first round of wormer meds do not take care of everything. If you do not feel confident taking him to the last vet you saw, then use another vet. Bring in a stool sample, the vet can test it to see what types of worms he has, and give something from there.

Many of the over the counter worming medications do not work.. or they only work for certain worms.

By the way.. if your pup is 3 months old, he has not had all of his shots. The breeder probably gave him his first set, maybe a second set, He will need another set. Rabies is given at 16 weeks.

What you saw was likely a roundworm. They look kind of like little strings of spaghetti and are visible in dog poo and puke.
You can get a good puppy dewormer liquid and administer it to the puppy as directed on the bottle. It must taste good too, because my dogs line up for theirs! Deworming a dog is a process, it takes more than just once. Worms are passed from the mom to the puppies and there are many different types of worms. There are tapeworms, roundworms, hookworms, etc. Find a good dewormer that will kill all of these.
Your vet may actually have dewormer that you can buy from them and administer at home - or let the vet administer it if you are nervous.
Either way, you must deworm the dog or the worms could kill it.

OBVIOUSLY the breeder did not deworm him. you have a pup with tapeworm and you should take him to a vet to have it dewormed again. But take him to a different vet than the one where your pup died if you feel strange about that one. Get the records from your breeder that say when and where your pup was given his last dosage and how much he was given and the type of de worming meds. Any good breeder won't mind giving you this information and in fact would be happy to provide it to you.

You have a three month old pug pup who has worms. I would suggest getting some puppy worm medicine from Walmart or Walgreens and add this to his food as directed. Then follow up with the medicine as recommended on the package. You don't necessarily need to take him to the vet for this problem. As for his shots, he will need them at age 6 months. All dogs need their shots at the same age.

While most puppies are literally born with worms, they can be dewormed at home with the method I suggested above. I have used Harts Once a Month Wormers for many years and have had success with it. They have them in puppy strength too. Read the label carefully. Make sure the pup is old enough to take them and his follow the weight restrictions.

If they look like pieces of spaghetti or grains of rice they are more than likely worms. Any age of dog can get worms...worms are usually carried by fleas, and if he has fleas thats most likely where he got them. You can go to your local pet store and purchase medicine for alot cheaper than at the vets. However, some do not work and you have to make sure not to overdose and poison your dog. If you have the money to take him to the vet just go ahead and take him. The vet will give the dog medicine and you should see the worms disappear within at least a week. Your puppy will be fine. If you want the medicine the vet has but cheaper than at the vet you can call 1-800-pet-meds and order the medicine yourself. Hope that helps!

Normally I'd say to use an over the counter dewormer.. but if, as you said, it has already been Dewormed you risk giving an overdose in a fairly young dog.. Call the vet.. ask if it's a good idea to do an over the counter one.. if not get the dog in.. Worms in puppies is not uncommon..

Did it look kind of like a grain of rice and move like an inch worm? If so then it has tape worms. If it was more like a piece of spaghetti then it is probably round worms. Since it is so young you should call the vet. Sometimes if you describe it to them over the phone they will perscribe you something without a visit.

It sounds like it could be a roundworm. Regardless of your past experience, you need to get your puppy to the vet for a complete physical and to finish up his shots. Take a stool sample in and tell the vet what you saw. They'll give you the appropriate medications. Your puppy should also be started on heartworm prevention.
