Flashback..............! OK, if you have genuinely tried to deal with this person than don't even concern yourself with the outcome, because you can only do what is necessary on your part and the rest is on her part, if she doesn't meet you halfway than, forget it! I only hope that her son, your husband is strong enough not to succumb, because most do and that is why their mothers behave like pure %&*&%$%'s. It's devisive!

No. I am in the same situation almost. My mother in law has actually been physically abusive to my baby. I was tricked into going up to her house 1 1/2 away for one night a couple of weeks ago and my husband literally woke me at 4am because I was crying in my sleep.
I hadn't gone up there in 7 months and I will never go back. I have learned that I am the topic of conversation for her and her daughter so although I wanted to protect my husband from the crap I can't deal with it anymore.
If you need to vent please feel free to contact me.

No....u rnt being nasty at all........it is the phase from which u r going thru. i can imagine u wat all u might have suffered previously but putting an allegation baseless that is wat has upset u the most. It is perfectly ok. Give urself and them some time. Let the time be the healer which may vanish all these knots (no doubt it wud b hard enuf but try is wat u can do .. afterall u have to live there only). make sure that ur husband is aware of all the real facts.
All the best.

In our culture... it's considered normal to hate MIL.
I think that's because there is a constant struggle to prove who has the power. MIL's have a hard time letting go of their sons.

I would have my husband deal with his family. His family his responsibility. Your family is yours. Don't make him choose between the two of you, but he must be able to stand up to his own mother and be an adult that the abusive behavior toward his wife is unacceptable and won't be tolerated. You are his wife. He loves you both, and she needs to treat you with the same amount of respect that she shows to him.

indians have good family values but you need to live far away and socialize not too often. indians also like to involve in gossiping and compete with each other which destroy companionship.indians need to set example as being thought from the ramayan.

No, you don´t have to talk to her if you don´t want to.
I don´t like mine either and I don´t want to talk to her. Maybe a simple ¨hi¨ and ¨bye¨, but she does´t deserve even that.
You said she was nasty before and now she and her daughter are creating stories about you.... so, yes, you have a reason to not like her.
