meaning would you...keep to yourself...join a gang for protection...
o and if someone who is well known pushes you what would you do?? fight back or be the #@$#.
if you fight back then u might get stabbed or somthing.
if u dont then u are considered a #($#@( and would get messed with a lot.

Good question. I've wondered that myself after seeing some shows on prison gangs, etc. Seems to me that if you don't join SOME group, EVERYBODY is gonna mess with you. At least if you join a gang, you've got some people watching your back. My personal opinion is that that's probably why a lot of people in prison join SOME type of gang.
I think I would probably join up with some group, which is why I have every intention of keeping my butt OUT of prison!

well I am in jail right now...As an officer and I will give u a str8 answer: joining a gang is the worst thing 2 do. U not only fight ur battles but others in ur gangs battles. Not 2 mention u Bcum more of a target 2 other gang members trying 2 make a name 4 themselves. I am saying this cuz I have worked here 4 a long time from when there was almost no gang activities 2 now where it is overwhelmed with gang members tiring 2 make a name 4 themselves. And u just cuz your self 2 not only have a ruffer stay but a LONGER 1. every time u break a institutional rule u stay longer. If ur respect others stay 2 yourself, u will b just fine. the only ones that have it harder are thugs, thug wanna be's, Gang members, inmates tryin' 2 join a gang, and thieves. There is a honor among thieves as they as, a jail code. Learn the rules, which r just common courtisy and respect and u will sail thru, with a little fun added! Remember their is a big difference Btween a jail and a prison. But mostly the same rules apply. But it's more dangerous and longer sentences. But the same jailhouse rules apply.

I'd get permission to start a drama or musical program with some of the other prisoners. Often drama and music can be used as a way to bring people together, ease tensions, and keep people busy, all things that should keep people out of trouble. I guess it would be like a gang of sorts, but one that focused on producing positive energies. If that failed, I'd stand alone and deal equally with all the prisoners. If my life was ever threatened, I'd fight whomever I had to whether they had a knife or not.

I would get to my cell and start dismantling and collecting things that I could use for weaponry. I would want some knives and wire to come behind and choke someone. There are lots of everyday chemicals that are caustic when thrown in the eyes. Then I would employ lots of psycho-social strategies to manipulate prisoners and guards. I think I could develop a survival plan and maintain it for my own well being and a group of others.

i wouldnt join a gang... thats for sure.... id try and make some friends.... and if someone starts something you gotta get down regardless or your stay is gonna be hell..... plus if you fight itll probably last a max of like 2 minutes b4 the guards break it up (who cares if you get smashed)...that way ppl wont look at you like a free ride, theyll know youll defend yourself.

I'd keep to myself, but if some one messed with me I'd get them into a submission hold and keep going till I snapped their arm. After that I don't think anyone would want any.

i think i would keep to my self and use my tool to keep pple happy although i would have to hope the jail mates are desperate enough for it lol
