ask your friends in Louisiana. Are you sure you want auditions in the ENTIRE STATE of Louisiana, or just the city where you live? Be specific.

Sure, get the Florida Blue Sheet! For some reason it has all kinds of out of state auditions and event listings. I am a subscriber and and bummed I live in Orlando because there are more auditions out of state then IN. Also look up your local "craigslist". If your not already familiar with it, it's a local e-forum with all kinds of listings. Look under the job section in the TV/Acting catagory. Also pick up a phone book or Google to see if there are any local schools which offer production classes. These classes are LOADED with young directors, playwrights, videographers, you name it. These guys have homework (just like any other students) but their homework is to make a short film or commercial or music video. These people will likely have auditions at least once a month if not more and they need "talent". Brush up on your monologues and get down to their next casting call. It probably won't pay ANY money but you'll get your own copy of the dvd and after a few you can splice together your own demo reel. This will give you something to send into agents and studios. Finally, you need to look up local casting directors. Try to find one who offers some sort of acting class. This class will serve TWO purposes. One you will have something new to add to your resume and more importantly you will have some face to face time with somebody who sends people to MOVIE AND COMMERCIAL AUDITIONS!! Which is what you want in the first place. Show up to class and let them see your talent and professional style. They will (if you do a good job) be grateful to meet a new face who has talent and won't make them look bad if they send you out on a job. Remember this game is all about politics so give people a reason to feel comfortable when you are around. This will take you a long way. Break a leg and study hard. It's the best antidote to being unprepared when the lights finally do hit you!!
