IF the copyright owner of a software is dead. Can i resale the software for profit?

copyrights remain until 70 years after the authors death in the USA and EU countries. The estate or perhaps a publisher holds the rights depending on how the contracts were written.

Im not sure about software, but I know that with writing materials, usually if the author or creator is dead, the publisher, or the company which published the work has the rights. I would suggest that you find out who now retain the rights, and present your questions about retailing to them.
