In the Inuyasha manga many times naraku says ku ku ku in the english translated version. What does that mean?

"ku ku ku" = evil snicker, more or less.

i was kinda wondering that too, its in alot of animes and mangas, i kinda thought maybe it ment they were out of breath or somfin...or maybe a little laugh like thing?
