Check the brake light bulbs. If any of them are burned out the cruise control won't work. Only use the Bosch branded bulbs recommended by Mercedes, by the way. For some reason, bulbs from other manufacturers can cause the cruise control to fail.

Those cruise controls (Mercedes and other cars) just don't seem to last. Even with light usage, they just break down and it's been very discouraging to me. All I can suggest is that you take another look at your owner's manual and make sure you are following the directions when you set the cruise control. If it still doesn't work, you'll just have to bring it in to the repair shop (or go without a working cruise control).
