First time?

When Dudley realized that Harry wasn't going with him and his family.
I couldn't believe that "little" twerp had turned into a human being. ; )

Edit: I cried the hardest when Dobby died.

i didnt even shed a tear when dumble died in the last book
it was really sad and all, but i had never cried while reading a book.

but i really surprised myself while reading HP7 because i cried quite a bit.

I got teary when Mad Eye Moody died.

And I sniffled quite a bit when Dobby was killed (he was such a good little guy)

And the deaths of Tonks, Lupin, Fred, etc made me cry even more

But I cried the most when at the VERY end, Harry tells his son, Albus Severus, that "one of the people you were named after was a slytherin, and he was the bravest man i knew"
that was really touching.

I never cried, but definitely felt a lot of gut wrench moments as it was such a roller coaster of a book. Starting right from the very beginning when Dudly stopped being a jerk, the chase with the death eaters, the chase from the death eaters at the wedding, getting VERY PO'd at Ron for disapearing from Harry and Hermione's side, Harry visting his parent's grave, finding of the hocruxes, being soooo scared for Hermione when she was being tortured by the Cruciatus Curse at the Malfoy Mansion, laughing at the "Potterstation" (such a cleaver idea), feeling sooo glad that Percy "came clean," sad that one one of twins died, TOTALLY rooting on Mrs.Weasley for calling Lestrange a witch with a capital B, feeling so bad for the loss of Tonks and Lupin, and feeling bad for snape's past and the ultimate price he paid, glad that Malfoy was able to survive, PROUD of everyone at Hogwarts (especially Neville and the Gryffindors) who stood up to fight--despite the losses as a result--right until the sweet victory at the end. Then of course, the funny thoughts of Ron attempting to live in a muggle society, draco being married and having a kid, and knowing that everyone is getting along in the end. :)

If that wasn't a roller coaster, I don't know what is.

Got a bit teary for nearly all the deaths but otherwise i have to say it was reading the last few lines and closing the book after finishing it. I think the reality that there will be no more books after this one dawned upon me at that exact moment which was quite a big thing...i'm sure others felt the same way

Actually, the only place where I cried was when Harry was going to his death. Even though I love Dobby, and Fred's death was so sad (what about George?), and Colin Creevey's death was just heartbreaking I never cried. I started freaking out when I thought Hagrid was dead/going to die (after they crashed in the beginning, and when he was being carried away by the spiders) and if he had died, I would definitely have cried.

P.S. I cried when Sirius and Dumbledore died in the 5th and 6th books, respectively.

I only read Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and The Order of The Pheonix, and Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows. I was kind of upset when Hedwig died, but I was relieved when I found out Hermione didn't die (she is my favorite character)

Oh god, I was shooting tears all over the place when Snape died. More so when we disocver his past and love for Lily and EVERYTHING that happened!!! I still get sniffles here and there when I think about. I loved Snape!!!

The only other time was when Sirius died... for some reason I wasn't damaged by Dobby's death.

Um, I felt really bad when Dobby died... and I ALMOST cried when Fred died... but I didn't cry in this book. On the other hand I did cry when Sirius died in the other book.

I started tearing up when Dobby died
But I never really started crying
The part where Fred died really made me sad
But nothing really emotional. =)
