I dont think it was a very good question, but Obama's answer about reparations through education seemed like a good answer, although i am not sure whether this answer was sufficient to the questioners expectations.

Your question speaks volumes about the "debate."

Presently, America is divided badly over some pretty important concerns: 10-12 million undocumented people in this country, pretty much an open border, we at war in two countries, some real issues like abortion, same sex marriage, the John Doe amendment, the lowest approval ratings for our entire government that I can ever recall - and what pressing issue is asked? - reparations for a 150 year old injustice!

Gives a whole new meaning to the word "patronizing."

To answer your question - I can only guess what answer he was hoping for - and I don't believe he got it.

Yep. Dennis Kucinich stood up and said he was for reparations.

Thats the answer the guy asking the question was looking for, so I'm guessing he'll be voting for Dennis.

The rest of them are all smarter than that. Dennis is a great guy, but hes a bit too left-wing knee-jerk idealist for my taste. I mean, come on, lots of black people have risen above poverty and ghettos to become successful and have good lives. Its a question of self-determination.

Is there still racism in this country? Yes.

Can black people overcome it on their own? Yes. And many of them have.

the idea of 'reparations' is ridiculous.

Find me someone whose ancestors were not persecuted somehow, and then we will talk.

Let me ask this. If that person's ancestors were not brought to the U.S., where would they be? Are the people there doing better or worse than the people in the U.S (even those living in poverty)? The people who scream "reparations" better be darn glad they aren't in the poverty jungles running from another tribe with machetes. They are lucky others before them made the sacrifices they did which allows them to prevail in this country.

Probably not...but it is a truly stupid question. Reparations are truly the ultimate insult to the 300,000 Union boys who gave their lives in the Civil War.

Maybe mandatory trips to Arlington Cemetary are in order for those who clamor for monetary reparations.

I guess the payment in blood was not sufficient.

reparations for what?.....no one is going to give me money because my family lost a fight 300 years ago in England and we lost our land to Scotland....why would any one in their right mind think there should be reparations for slavery? I just don't get the logic or lack of it? It was all before our time here....And besides how many white people died to free the slaves...are you as slave desendents going to give money to the families of all the white people who died? I think not because it has nothing to do with you!

No and no Democrat would put it through anyway. They'll just avoid it and dance around it like they do everything else.
