This sequence isn't really mathematical... the second number simply tells how many letters there are in the spelling of the first number.
1=one=3 letters
2=two=3 letters
3=three=5 letters
4=four=4 letters
5=five=4 letters
6=six=3 letters
7=seven=5 letters
8=eight=5 letters
9=nine=4 letters
10=ten=3 letters
11=eleven=6 letters
12=twelve=6 letters
