most of us on here have gone to a concert or two ( or 100+....).....

So, in your experiences, what was/were the bands that delivered the best? The Worst? Acts that you didn't really care about, but the artist/band surprised you the most?

Bands that delivered the best - I have seen NIN on three separate tours and all were amazing. He must spend a fortune on electronics.

Bands that delivered the worst - The Dresden Dolls are not a lot of fun to see live. Very depressing, but maybe that was the intent. Also, Chris Connelly went from key component of Rev Co to a Frank Sinatra wanna-be, that was disappointing.

Acts that you didn't really care about - I got dragged into seeing Chemlab a long time ago. I have no idea why and it was quite boring.

The artist/band surprised you the most - I heard a lot of mixed reviews about Garbage and Pop Will Eat Itself but both put on real entertaining shows.

Alice Cooper shows in the70's & 80's were great!! Iron Maiden concerts in the 80's were probably my favorites. I've also enjoyed Type O Negative, Metallica, Judas Priest, and lesser known bands like Overkill and Trouble were always cool to see. The Allman Bros., the Doobie Bros. ugh very boring. Most shows at smaller venues are a lot more fun than the big arenas or sheds Now back in around 1972 I went to a Lou Reed concert at an ice arena with opening act Genesis, that I'd never heard of... well I was blown away! That was, of course, with Peter Gabriel and I saw them a couple more times when he was still in the band. I lost interest in them when he left.

I love Nine Inch Nails shows, they are the best. All the guys have so much energy and they interact a lot with the crowd. Trent even made out with someone in the crowd once, that was pretty funny because it was a total accident (so he said)... he turned his head and there this girl was right in his face, so he went for it... and she didn't complain either.
I also liked A Perfect Circle, Snake River Conspiracy, Tool, Mindless Faith, Garbage (Shirley Manson can crack some pretty good jokes), Stabbing Westward, Live, Muse, Thrill Kill Kult, Taproot, Fear Factory, The Distillers, and No Doubt. And Manowar is SO hilarious live.
Some bands that I was expecting to be bad, but were actually good live are My Chemical Romance, The Dresden Dolls, Queens of the Stone Age, and Zwan.
I was disappointed with Def Leppard, HIM, and Placebo.. they just kind of stood around, I was still happy to see them live though.
Bands that I thought were terrible live are Disturbed, Mini Kiss (if you can even call them a band), and Papa Roach (Papa Roach was free though, so I can't complain).
I love going to shows though, whether the performance is good or not.

I went to the Warped Tour in Mtn View this year. There was this band from Europe called The Automatic that I've never heard and I was never a fan of that loud screaming music but they really know how to work an audience, especially the guy who plays the keyboard. They did a rock version of Golddigger by Kanye West, LOL.

But I love Paramore and Boys Like Girls. =]

I love going to see Alice Cooper....he puts on an awesome show! I have been going to Alice Cooper concerts since I was 13 (I'm now 46--and already have my tickets for his August 19th show). My favorite was his Welcome to My Nightmare concert in 74 or 75. Another great concert experience was in 98 when I brought my 13 year old son to his first Alice Cooper concert (passing on the tradition). What really got me excited was in 2005 when Alice Cooper opened with The Department of Youth--I recognized the song immediately--and I felt like a 14 year old again! It was amazing.

The best bands I've seen live- Mindless Self Indulgence, Dope, NiN, System of a Down, and Slipknot.

Bands that disappointed me- Rob Zombie, HIM, Cold, and The New York Dolls and I had high hopes for that reunion :(

Bands that took me by surprise- Skindred, A Perfect Circle, Hatebreed and Chimaira.

The last Meshuggah concert was amazing. The band is so full of energy the crowd was left tired on the floor while they were still pumping as if they were getting started. Crazy.

I couldn't say what the best one was, they all are great. From Jazz to Metal, Oprah to Folk, Electronic to rock, it's really hard to say.

Rush - The best hands down

The Cult in 2006 was an ok show, but I had a blast anyway!

The Police Reunion Tour - Snoozefest. maybe they were better in the 80's, but now - $90 for crappy seats... I just feel ripped off. I feel even worse for people that spent $200+ on good seats..definately not worth it. I hate Sting
