Everyone says 2-propanone. But what would 1-propanone be? The "2" is redundant unless there are other substituents.

proban-2-one or 2-propanone and easier and better to say propanone because there is no 1-propanone so its useless to say 2-propanone but it can be used.

acetone is the common name and commercial not IUBAC
