Because welfare is good--if it's going to themselves and to their agendas.

I don't have a problem with some revenue going to those who LEGITIMATELY need assistance. But I do resent having taxes deducted from my pay to give to people who refuse to work, crank out children like rabbits in order to receive more welfare money, and use assistance money to get alcohol or cigarette money. I work every single day, why do I need to support these deadbeats?
Secondly, we have illegals coming over the border and heading straight towards the welfare office. They get assistance. But many Americans who are legitimately in bad shape, get refused. You tell me how that's fair!
I'm not for giving money to Iraq either. I am for giving money to our soldiers to fight terrorism. The Iraqi government could get their oil revenue flowing and get their own infrastructure fixed, it's not up to the American taxpayer to pay that bill. Heck, if we ever pull troops out eventually, they'll be burning our flags and hating us anyway. So why pump the money into them? Go there, kill terrorists, and get out. That's the best way to do it.

You break it you buy it. We broke Iraq apart, so now it is our responsibility to give money to try and fix it. We could have left the day we found Saddam, but then that wouldn't have accomplished anything. We are responsible for Iraq, so we have to give them a chance to make it. I actually hope that we get out of there soon, but to leave the country in complete shambles is not a way to gain allies in that part of the world

If you think that is bad, check out what the US state Department's Millennium Challenge Account is, and how much it has been increased by the Bush admin.
All I see is people here saying.... "I don't mind helping the needy, but i hate helping the lazy 1/100th of 1% that are only taking advantage of the system, so we should cut everyone off."

I have no problem helping the needy. It is the lazy that I have a problem with. Those who think the government should pay them if they decide they don't want to work. I also have no problem in training people for jobs, but, at some point they do NEED to get jobs.
The Federal government was not set up to provide an income for the poor. It was set up to provide for the national defense.

Welfare destroys initiative. The only gain in welfare is cheap votes and the negative effect on the social structure of this country is more than many can understand. Watching TV and spitting out kids every year instead of learning how to support your family does not support the growth of this nation. The dead beat father just keep making more victims and let the public pay for their fun. Time to track down all the dads and make them pay for their fun.

Well because conservatives are the ones working to earn the money to pay for the taxes therefore they should be allowed to voice their opinions as to how the tax money is spent. Remember the "Golden Rule" he who makes the gold makes the rules.

Cause welfare breeds dependence and incompetence. Keeping people on welfare breeds poverty. No one is brought out of poverty through welfare. It's a failed system that doesn't accomplish anything. If you want to donate to the poor, then do so on your own time. Why do you have to force everyone to support your failed cause that doesn't work? I'll tell you why, cause you're a liberal democrat and you don't believe in free choice. If you want to give 25% of your paycheck to welfare, then by all means do it, but don't force me. I'd at least like to donate my money to a cause or purpose that actually gets results unlike welfare.
