Tell me, how do you recognize a real friend?

I've just about got this ice pick out from between my shoulder blades.

Amen. It's seriously so sad when it comes to this. **pulls the ice pick out** Hopefully things will start to become clear enough soon enough. I've always said that the real friends are the ones that stay behind when everyone else has run on ahead to be first in line for the "next best thing." A real friend is the one that comes in search of you.... reather than waiting for you to come to them. A real friend is the one that will confront you with a conflict even at the risk of upsetting you...... just because it is the honest and direct thing to do. And because they feel confident enough that the friendship is strong enough to withstand it. A real friend.... understands you... and therefore, always will understand what it is you feel. A real friend..... will never walk away.

First off you can't make someone understand something they don't care to look at. I am not sure why these girls are acting this way but if this is something that truly bothers you then I would say look a little harder to finds more friends. And try not letting the behavior of your current friends get to you so much. As far a being considerate you could try to talk to them although from the sounds of it not sure how much good it will do. Yeah, I've got a couple of knife-shaped scars on my back too.
You can't truly recognize a real friend until you're in some sort of completely f*cked position that you need his or her help to get out of.

A real friend is still your friend even if he/she doesn't agree with you or your decisions.
A real friend is someone who will stand up for you no matter what.
A real friend is someone that you can go to when your really upset about something and just sit there together in silence.
A real friend is someone you would do the same thing for if the shoe was on the other foot.

When they are there no matter what. Through thick and thin and are thoughtful, caring, sharing, concerned. Call, come by and get along with most of the time and actually love being around. That's how I define a good friend. Oh and don't hold grudges and who's understanding.

Well Billy, I don't know if I can explain it very well.
It's easier when you can see them and actually know them. Here, you only see what they print out for you. Most are good and honest, but there's always that one that will lie just to get at you.
All I know is it took me a while to weed one out and things seem better since.

I'm sorry these things have happened Billy...I have followed your example and done some "weeding" of my own.
A real friend stands behind you even if you may be wrong and is there for you to catch you if you should fall. They are support systems and a comfort for you. They are always there. They love you when no one else does.

I have about 5 real friends that love me for the way I am.They never judge me,even when I make a mistake,they are there when I need them,no matter what!!
