Most of the characters are under copyright. So while it would be okay for art class or such, if you planned on selling them mass-market wise you would run into all their lawyers with cease and desist letters.

If your planning to commercialize it, then you have to pay royalty to the creator. But if its only for your viewing pleasure or as a gift then its OK.
