Goodness sake, you ARE a free nation! Good to hear it!

If you loved us 100% I'd wonder if our country WAS setting up puppet governments!

I'm joking, of course.

Here in the U.S., we kid the U.K. a lot, but we love you. We joke about the differences, the disagreements, we even get angry at times.

Truth be told, we feel the same, up until you need us, or we need you.

Then we know you'll be there. You always have.

We're a young country with a lot to be grateful and to begrudge the U.K., but we will never stop standing with you.

Brits hate the USA because the USA is better. We're a collection of 50 states in a huge country with many freedoms. Britian is a collection of 4 countries on a puny island with bad weather.

I also own my own home with 2 cars. My kids are great and my wife isn't bad looking. It's the American dream. The British don't have an American dream. They would rather pick our dream apart and take all of the credit for it.

To answer the question at hand however,......

I believe just like in any family we squabble and fuss, but when we all sit down to eat we pray together for the same thing (freedom) we pass the peas (and bullets) and get on with it.

God Bless America and our Great Britain Allies!

Like a lot of people, I love a lot of American ideas, novels, music, movies and TV, but I hate American insularity and imperialism. Like all other countries, it has has both good and bad within it.

Maybe if Americans didn't love themselves (as a nation) quite so much, they might see that other cultures also have something to offer, and that they don't need to impose their culture on others.

I think that lately many Americans have started to look differently at Britain, at least, as having an interesting take on things, interesting style, good actors, and so on.

And the more that Americans travel, the more they learn about other cultures and learn to respect and like them.

A lot of Americans who visit Australia decide to come back and live here permanently, as we have a similar way of life and standard of living, but we have publicly funded health care, and we don't have the gun and violence culture.

Best wishes to all!!!

I have been lucky enough to travel all over the world and can say without question that the Australians have the most favorable opinions of the US. Some of this relates to our help during WWII, and some derives from lifestyle and culture. They are more like us than any other culture.

You confuse the attitude of the current and past US Governments with people. Most people in Europe have never met any Americans. Any judgements they make are based mostly on what is seen on television and films. They are not responsible for the every day action of their Government, even they cannot have a referendum on every action their Government takes.

However in my experienceAmericansare poorly educated when it comes the peoples and the countries outside the USA. The first concern of the USA Government is the USA Government. No favours are offered or given if it is not in the interest of the USA. The interest of the USA are not necessary the interests of the rest of the world. This has been the case since the 1890s. They for example took over the Philippines and Cuba, because they said the Spanish Government attack an America ship in Havana Harbour (I think was called the Maine.) this I think was Teddy Roosevelt first step into empire building.

Nobody can denied that without the aid of the USA the UK. would have struggled to win the 1st world war and would almost certainly lost the 2nd world war. In the 1st world war the American demanded to be and were paid in gold. In the second world war the USA demanded that all UK owned assets in America were handed over to the US Government and they were. They demanded and got army and naval bases in UK controlled territory. They then lent us money to buy war materials from them and when the war ended demanded immediate repayment. When this was not possible they demand and got access to markets in the world that until then had been solely British preserve. They demanded we give up the Empire and got that also. The demand from the UK for war materials help America out of recession

After the Japanese bombed Pearl harbour (then part of the American Empire) America declared war on Japan, the never declared war on Germany. I repeat never declared war on Germany. Hitler declared war on America after America they declared war on Japan.

The Marshall plan (named after the American general) This surely help Europe to recover from the devastation of the that war. The UK got some of this money but it was dissipated by the Attle´ s Labour Government. The UK subsequently barely benefited for this aid.

However if we turn to Americas foreign policy since the 2nd world war it has been a disaster for the world. The CIA have fermented revolution across South America and the Middle and Far east . They have back the wrong horse so many times they are now having trouble finding jockeys. (till Tony Blair came along)

The Americans backed the Zionist in Palatine, encouraged and supported Jewish immigration into Palestine. Back the terrorist organise called the Stern Gang. (who incidently through threats and killings and intimidation cause 100s if not 10000s of Arabs to flee their homes and land. Leaving it to be appropriated by the immigrant Jews. They have subsequently provided arms for the so call defence of Israel but for the most part the arms have been used for aggressive purposes. They have since complained that Iran where providing arms for Lebanon’s islamist to attack Israel. Somebody tell the US Government it works both ways.

In Iran after the Abandan affair designed overthrow Mosadeq the then Iran President (incidentally this was done reduce British interest in Iran and to increase American influence) America installed the Shah of Persia.

In 1956 The Egyptians nationalised the Suez Canal. A canal whose construction was paid for by the British and French. The US government actively work against the British when they tried to retrieve it. What of the Panama canal paid for by the USA did the US Government follow the same policy foisted on the British over Suez, no they did not, they kept an occupational army there to protect their asset.
Consider Vietnam formerly known a French Indo China a French colony over run by the Japanese Imperial army long before Pearl Harbour. the Americans did nothing, not in their interest. Different story when the Japanese Imperial Army invaded the America colony of the Philippines. Not exactly an even handed approach. They compounded the problem by supplying to Ho chi min. Yes you read it right the gave arms to Ho Chi Min a communist from the 1920´s. This help Ho to defeat the French at Diem Be En Fhu. The even gave Mo Si Tung weapons to help fight the Japanese, they did all this despite advice form Britain and France.

Most of the countries in South America, the far and middle east together some countries in Europe who receive help from America the since the 2nd world war have turn away from America. Those European countries have watch the Americans fail militarily and diplomatically for the last 40 years.
Those countries in the middle and far east who were help by the US Government to break the yoke of European imperialism. Then tasted American imperialism have found the taste to be bitter and unpalatable.

For many years the Americans have been against the imperialism of the European kind. American imperialism has been economic and cultural a much more insidious form of imperialism. The US Govern good guys with all lot of money and no common sense.

I have know some Americans and have found them generous to a fault, they were kind and considerate to me when a child as they were to all the children after the second world war in the town where I was reared . They were just the service men mostly US Army Air force. To all Americans out there most people like you as people, what we despise is you politicians and you bussimen.
