Will his legal issues polarize the nation like the Simpson verdict?
I think will. I think it has already started, unfortunately.

I simply liked him as a player and it's very disappointing that he is charged with something like this. The crime is sick.

If he broke the law, he broke the law, no matter what color he is. When will people stop this utter nonsense and realize how stupid it is to take someone's side or be against someone, based solely on their race, sex or religious beliefs or lack thereof?

Wow ... could the guy who answered first be more of an idiot?
People choose to fight, animals do not - I think that's a pretty clear distinction. I don't think that distinction is too far from the difference between 'sex' and 'rape'; in the second case, someone is forced into the action and has no choice.
Having said all of this, dogs are not people; they're animals. While I think dog fighting is deplorable, and yes I did join the Humane Society in petitioning the NFL to suspend Vick, it doesn't compare to a double murder - not even close! His actions aren't nearly as bad as OJ's. Everyone is talking about it because Vick is currently a top-notch athlete, and not a former star.

I agree with you. Al Sharpton and Russell Simmons have used it to highlight the cruelty of dog-fighting and others are still playing it as a race thing which it is not! I posted another answer about this and one woman was saying it was because he was successful and we were jealous! Boy, way she waaaaaaay off the mark!
Use your light sabre and mind control on him!

I think you are right. It HAS started. Even the Atlanta Falcons manager is walking on eggshells over the situation. Vick doesn't seem to think animal abuse is no big deal. He stated to his teammates that he assumes *it* will just "blow over". ......Sure...and O.J. IS *innocent*, right?
