They need to be honest. If they are selling a good product, it should practically sell itself.
Also, they need to learn to listen, really listen to the questions that the consumer poses.
It seems like too many salesmen memorize some sort of sales script, it sounds fake and false.

When I buy a car I want the lowest price. Everytime I go into a car dealer its always the same routine: Ask the options I want in the car
then get a price, then I say that's too much, then they go ask their manager if they can do better, the manager says 'no', I get up to leave and all of the sudden I get a $1,000 off then I say I still can't afford it. Then he says well I'll see what I can do, then he goes in the back once again and comes back with a lower price but still not in my price range. Then I say thanks for wasting my time and I leave. Over the next week or so I get hundreds of phone calls, e-mails and mail from that same car dealer. I HATE IT.

To not bug people. I'd have to say that most salesman run in a close second w/ lawyers to be the most hated people in america.

If I don't want this lame contraption, what makes them think I want to try something else. To just step away. Simple. It's annoying to be pushy.

They need to learn to not be so persistant and pushy. If you need their assistance you will ask. I do not like car saleman..
