And if you say, "everyone has the 'right' to have babies", I agree, but what gives them the "right" to keep having others pay for them? If they want to keep having them, they can, but why should others have to pay for them?

It wouldn't be demanding a surgery.

If they WANT WELFARE, they will do it. If they don't make the CHOICE to have it done, they just don't get their hand out.

Sure, if the father is drawing welfare on a bunch of kids, then he should get snipped also.

That's not a very fair solution. As usual, the answer is to control HER body and not your OWN, right? If you're going to go that far, the guy responsible for providing the sperm should be "punished", too.

But, you know, this entire issue could be completely avoided if the parties involved were educated and had the resources to take more preventative measures. Wear a damn condom and you won't have to deal the result.

Sangria, dear, the health dept gives birth control for free to those who can't pay. I'm not sure of the laws in other states, but here in Illinois, if a welfare mother is under 18 and has had only one child, she can not get her tubes tied even if she requests for it to be done. The liberals have made sure that laws like this are in place to assure that there are plenty of "victims" to go around.

I'm not a liberal but I agree with what your saying, its long past due. Also catch the guy and casterate him.
Birth control is out there in many forms for both men and women and they are both responsible for not creating more kids that the tax payers are stuck supporting. And it should not be a right to bring children in the world that you know damn well you can't support or don't want to support. Not fair to the child either. People not smart enough to figure out how babies are made are usually not smart enough to know how it happened.

I'm as liberal as they come.

This said, I've been saying for years that at some point in our lifetimes, you will have to show financial responsibility in order to have more, than say, 2 children.

The population of Earth cannot keep reproducing at its current rate. We're going to reach overpopulation numbers in the next 50 years that will jeopardize the human race as a whole. Look up "Stephen Hawking" and "overpopulation". It will open your eyes.

So I think this financial responsibility is going to come sooner rather than later. We all know our government isn't very proactive, so it's just going to one day become social issue number 1 just like illegal immigration did all of the sudden.

Not a liberal, for the record.

My vote is to faze out welfare, period.
Take care of only those who are physically or mentally incapable of caring for themselves and have no family in a position to support them.

Welfare has created a nightmarish segment of society that no one wants living in their neighborhood. And it is degrading those who have gotten caught up in the system and know nothing else, cannot find their way out and are not encouraged, by friends, family or government to look for the 'exit' door.

The current welfare system is inhumane.

When women learn they will have to work to support their mistakes instead of pushing them off on the public the birth rate will come down. The free thinking women that put the blame on everyone but themselves need to get a wake-up call. No more free bees. If you need financial help You have to work for it. No more sitting around spitting out kids every year to increase the federal support. The fathers also need to be rounded up and made to pay for their good times. Everyone signing up for public assistance should be forced to list everyone that could be the father and each of those guys should be given DNA test. The winner gets to pay the cost for his fun. I am tired of hearing guys brag about how many kids they have but are not supporting.

This American believes when welfare recipients want money to care for their child, BOTH the mother and the biological father should be sterilized!

If they can't take care of one without help they don't deserve to bring any more into this world.

I'm a conservative, and I don't think you should mandate that people have surgery under any circumstances. I would, however, support a cap on welfare payouts, possibly even the amount you first drew when entering the program.

No, it isn't right.

Now, if you want to make it part of a comprehensive parenting plan where EVERYONE just can't breed willy-nilly and EVERYONE has to take a parenting class...take common sense tests, etc. fine.

But if YOU get to say she can't breed because she already has too many then I should get to say you can't because you have no clue how to parent and I don't wanna have to pay for or contend with the whiny, bratty, narcississtic, uneducated, Paris Hilton type child your testing and course scores suggests you'd make.

you shouldn't be able to make someone get their tubes tied or make someone stop having babies. China tried it and got ridiculed to no end for it. Governments should not be playing god with its population.
