1/8lb = 2oz therefore 5/8 lb = 10oz.
Bought 48 x 2oz = 96oz, use 10oz to make 1 candle...
...96 divide by 10 = 9 full sized candles plus 1 candle 3/5 or 60% or even .6 of the full size.
"Waste not want not".
Everyone else seems to have read your question as 48lbs plus 1/8lb. I read it to mean 48 lots of 1/8 lb therefore take your answer with the right question in mind.

48 1/8 = 48 + 1/8
(48 + 1/8) / (5/8) =
48(8/5) + (1/8)(8/5) =
384/5 + (8/8)(1/5) =
76 + 4/5 + 1/5 = 77

(48 1/8)/(5/8)
48.125/.625=77.
Plug it in on a calculator.
Or, if you're lacking a calculator..
(385/8)/(5/8)= (385/8) X (8/5) = 77
