My 2001 S10 Blazer while when idleing is causing my car to run rough, like it is ideling low and ready to stall out, also jumping. The service engine light is flashing which according to my manual means "MISFIRE". My mechanic has changed out plugs and wires, then tried changing out the ignition coil, changed out a censor and still running awful. It acts like it doesnt want to get gas through it when I try to take off, then its like the gas kicks in and goes , runs great at higher speed, only acts up when I stop for lights or starting the car while still in park. Before my mechanic keeps up his trial and error at my expense, does anyone know what is going on?

Well I recently had a problem similar to yours. a misfire is going to be caused by a few things. You could have a vacuum leak, clogged fuel filter, low fuel pressure, or something in the ignition system. I'd changed out the fuel filter which is not hard to do then i'd check the fuel pressure and check it with what it is suppose to be according to the manual. if that doesn't fix it start checking for vacuum lines either leaking or need replacing. also check the pcv valve. If it is not get a good vacuum on it it will cause the car to rough idle and miss. If any of that doesn't fix it message me and i'll be glad to help!

Believe it or not this sounds like an easy one...
Clean the throttle body.
This does not mean empty a can of throttle body cleaner in it, this means get a can of throttle body cleaner and a nice clean white rag like an old t-shirt and get inside there while holding the throttle plate open and keep spraying the rag and wiping the throat until it is clean.
The goop that collects on the inside of the thottle body is from the oil vapors that get sucked out by way of the PCV valve or breather hose and solidify in the cooler throttle body like a thick tar and can cause this problem.
Only other thing would be a dead fuel injector. You can do an OHMS test on each injector to rule this out.
Good Luck.

unnatural is right on wtih the egr valve it is a common problem on gm 4.3 engines they have a egr system that opens with the throttle position, at normal driving speed the egr is open 80-100% at idle it is closed. carbon builds up inside the valve and when it is open a piece sometimes breaks loose and drops holding the pintle valve open thats why it wont idle or run right till you get to a speed where it is normally open to the point of where it is stuck at. most of the time you can remove the valve and clean the carbon chunks out and it will work fine sometimes the valve has to be replaced. good luck

have someone run a scan on your system. I had the same problem. It was a misfire number 3 cylinder caused by a bad injector in that cylinder. I replaced the injector and it runs fine now. actually replaced the entire spider with another one I had on hand.

vacc leak caused by an egr valve hanging open
most likely guess, thats why You take your car to an automotive technician not a mechanic mechanics swap parts techs diagnose.

check the fuel pressure..its over looked alot in this vehicle...the fuel pressure at idle should be 60 psi...if you find that the pump is faulty also install a new fuel filter at the same time..its a common problem for this vehicle

this is just a thought but have him check some of the ground wires for it,i seen one with a bad ground for the computer do this,it stumped a lot of mechanics,it took me long enough to find it but its just another idea,it sounds like he has covered all his tracks pretty well, things like this can be real hard to find though, good luck with it.

check your timing,
or have a different mechanic check it. It could be other things, but I would have checked that first.
also what Ohio said.
